About Us

The Bag ‘n Hand Pantry, located at 1200 Pecos Trail, is the largest food pantry in northern New Mexico. We are a partner agency of The Food Depot of Santa Fe and an outreach ministry of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

Our mission and vision are to ease food insecurity and regularly provide fresh produce and packaged food in a friendly and caring environment to hungry people in the Santa Fe community.

Distribution Times

Tuesdays
11 am – 12:30 pm
5 pm  – 6:30 pm

Whom do we serve?

We distribute much-needed groceries each week to an average of 212 households and an average of 915 individuals.  Some are single, elderly, or disabled on a fixed income, while others are families living on the edge of poverty. Statistics show that 26% of those who receive food from the pantry are children 17 and younger; 53% adults between 18 and 65, and 21%  seniors.

Where do we get our food?

  • The Food Depot: Commodities and purchased foods
  • Community: Individuals donate produce that they grow or bring canned goods or other donations.
  • Local grocery stores and food vendors: Volunteers purchase food as needed using financial donations from members of the St. John’s congregation, the greater Santa Fe faith community, and individuals and community organizations, including the Santa Fe Community Foundation.
  • Local farmer’s market: Farmers donate unsold fresh produce.
